Enter your original novel in the Hackney Literary Awards

The Hackney Literary Awards, sponsored by the Cecil Hackney family of Birmingham, Alabama, were established in 1969. This prestigious writing competition recognizes excellence in fiction. The Morris Hackney family sponsors the $5,000 prize for an unpublished novel. Submissions for the 2025 novel contest are due September 30, 2025.

Submit your original novel by uploading your PDF, DOC, DOCX file that includes your cover sheet with contact information to our website. PDF files are preferred. The cover sheet information should contain your name, email address, mailing address, phone number, and the name of the work you are submitting. Do not submit separate cover sheet files.

All submissions must be accompanied by the appropriate submission fee. Payment is easily processed through PayPal. Unpaid entries will be discarded before judging.
